I Out of 11 African Fintech Startups Selected for the CATAPULT Africa Programme is Blockchain-based


Eleven African fintech startups have been selected to take part in the 2020 edition of CATAPULT: Inclusion Africa, which helps companies focusing on financial inclusion to scale.

Out of the 11 startups, only one of them is blockchain-based.

Below is the list of the selected startups:

• A-Trader – Tanzanian investment robo-advisory platform
• Dundiza – Tanzanian digital wallet
• Esusu – Nigerian Savings startup
• PaddyCover – A Nigerian-based insuretech startup
• CinetPay- Ivory Coast-based payment startup
• EverSend – Ugandan payments startup
• Exuus – Rwandan-based blockchain savings startup
• People’s Pension Trust – Ghanaian pensions startup
• Pezesha – Kenyan digital financial marketplace
• uKheshe – South African-based payments startup
• SympliFi – UK-based financial services marketplace

Exuus, the only blockchain-based startup on the list, is a digital and inter-operable decentralized ledger for saving groups, was founded in 2014 by CEO, Shema Steve.

The programme will include sessions on business model mapping, investment readiness, funding and capital raising, social impact, scaling strategy, building teams, operational management, advisory meetings with investors, and pitch development.

Exuus emerged the winner of the SeedStars Kigali 2019 and has continued to represent Rwanda in other areas making it a truly impactful startup in the African blockchain space.
