Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim's proposal to include Bitcoin in the city's reserve assets was blocked because Vancouver's charter and British Columbia law prohibit local governments from investing reserve funds in cryptocurrencies. As a result, the proposal could not move forward. However, Vancouver may still accept BTC for paying taxes or fees in the future, provided it is immediately converted to Canadian dollars upon receipt. (CoinDesk)
