【Blockchain News】Zcash privacy coin ecosystem stirred up internal waves. On January 8th, Josh Swihart, CEO of ECC (Electric Coin Company), publicly announced that the ECC team has collectively resigned from the original organizational structure and plans to establish an independent new company to continue development. What’s the reason behind this? Bootstrap, the nonprofit organization responsible for governance of ECC and supporting Zcash, has “evidently and continuously departed” from Zcash’s core mission.

The point of disagreement is clear. In recent weeks, a majority of Bootstrap’s board members—including Zaki Manian, Christina Garman, Alan Fairless, and Michelle Lai from ZCAM—have been severely misaligned with Zcash in decision-making. Josh stated bluntly that the ECC team faced a so-called “constructive dismissal” situation: that is, without directly firing employees, unilaterally modifying employment terms and working conditions, making it impossible for the team to continue working while maintaining professional integrity and technical completeness.

Under these circumstances, all ECC members made the decision to resign. However, it needs to be clarified here that this is not a technical split or protocol-level conflict. The Zcash protocol itself is completely unaffected. The core purpose of ECC team’s new move is to protect years of work results and prevent them from being eroded by malicious governance.

Josh stated that ECC will establish a new company with the original team and the same mission, continuing to build “unstoppable privacy currency.” In short, the technical development of privacy coins continues, only the organizational form has changed.
