Another issue is that the concepts of money in the East and West may differ somewhat. Although both like money, Westerners are not as obsessed as people from major countries, as if they are digging into a money pit. This is because the West has a comprehensive national welfare system, from childbirth, education, medical care, and retirement, to unemployment benefits. Therefore, Westerners do not place too much emphasis on the concept of money. In contrast, people from major countries, except for those in the system, have no sense of security at all because there is no protection—only the role of a beast of burden. So they work desperately to earn money; only with enough money can they feel secure.
