SpaceX announces a partnership with Cursor and secures $60 billion in acquisition options

According to Beating Monitoring, SpaceX announced a partnership with the code editor company Cursor, jointly developing next-generation coding and knowledge-work AI. Specific terms: Cursor grants SpaceX an option to acquire the company later this year for $60 billion; if SpaceX does not exercise the option, then it will instead pay $10 billion as a collaboration fee.

In the partnership, SpaceX provides the Colossus supercomputer. A tweet says its compute power is equivalent to 1 million Nvidia H100s; Cursor provides coding AI products and distribution channels for professional software engineers.

Last week, xAI began renting tens of thousands of chips to Cursor for training its latest model. Cursor is currently raising funds with a target valuation of $50 billion; the previous round valued the company at $29.3 billion.
