Today (the 20th), the first “Hualong One” nuclear power unit in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—the China General Nuclear Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project Unit 1—began commercial operation and power generation, officially meeting the conditions for commercial operation. The commissioned Unit 1 has achieved multiple key technological breakthroughs, completed 26 major design improvements, and realized the simultaneous construction and integrated handover of the physical power plant and the “digital power plant.” It is expected to generate over 9 billion kilowatt-hours annually, capable of meeting the annual electricity needs for production and daily life of one million residents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
