Developers share methods to enhance the quality of AI assistant conversations by optimizing the SOUL.md file
ME News Report, April 6 (UTC+8), recently, developer openclaw shared a method to enhance the conversational quality of AI assistants by optimizing the SOUL.md file. The article argues that SOUL.md is the core document defining the personality and voice of the AI assistant, focusing on shaping dialogue style, such as tone, viewpoints, conciseness, humor, and boundaries. The key principle is “brevity over verbosity, clarity over ambiguity,” and it should not be turned into a personal biography or security policy. The article provides a rewrite template called “Molty prompt,” aimed at strengthening the AI’s personality by requiring it to have strong opinions, eliminate corporate boilerplate, stay concise, allow humor, and openly point out potential user errors. The ultimate goal is to make the AI an assistant you’d be willing to chat with at 2 a.m. Additionally, it emphasizes that giving the AI personality does not mean being careless; operational rules should be kept in AGENTS.md, while SOUL.md is solely for defining voice and style. In shared or public scenarios, tone must align with the environment. (Source: InFoQ)
