Shuangliu District in Chengdu completes the nation's first international flight "bio-jet fuel + bonded kerosene" mixed fueling
Recently, a cargo plane flying to Stockholm, Sweden, successfully completed the fueling of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF, also known as “bio-jet fuel”) at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. This is the first international flight in the country to refuel with “bio-jet fuel + bonded aviation kerosene” at an airport within China. Unlike bonded aviation kerosene, domestically produced bio-jet fuel raw liquid is considered a domestically produced commodity and does not fall under the bonded aviation kerosene regulatory model. To ensure the smooth completion of the pilot task, and in accordance with standardized and unified business procedures, Chengdu Customs conducted in-depth research on relevant policies and regulations, promoting the classification and declaration of domestically produced bio-jet fuel raw liquid as non-bonded, and implementing a regulatory model where it is separately listed, declared, and verified from bonded aviation kerosene. The fueling for this international flight used 50 tons of aviation fuel, blended from 100% pure domestically produced bio-jet fuel raw liquid and bonded aviation kerosene at a 20% ratio. The success of this pilot not only marks a significant step forward for Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in the refueling of green fuels for international flights but also provides replicable and promotable experience for other airports nationwide to develop large-scale applications of bio-jet fuel under customs supervision.
