I just verified something that I find quite fascinating. Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, is practically already the tenth richest person in the world. And the crazy part is that he has never moved a single bitcoin from his fortune.

Think of it this way: with Bitcoin currently around US$73,720, the approximately 1.1 million BTC that Satoshi Nakamoto owns are worth over US$81 billion. That would place him among the wealthiest individuals on the planet, without having sold anything or revealing who he really is.

What intrigues me most is that this wallet has been completely untouched since 2010. Zero movements. Not a single transaction. Satoshi Nakamoto mined all those bitcoins in the early days when the network was barely running on a handful of laptops, and since then... nothing. Total silence.

This fuels all kinds of theories. Is he dead? Did he disappear? Or simply decide never to touch what he created again? The interesting thing is that, unlike other billionaires, Satoshi Nakamoto didn’t found a traditional company, didn’t seek venture capital, and didn’t list anything on the stock exchange. He just quietly launched Bitcoin in 2009 and vanished after his last public message in 2011.

And look what happened: 16 years later, that network that came out of nowhere is now valued in trillions of dollars. Bitcoin has reached all-time highs driven by ETFs, institutional demand, and narratives of inflation hedging.

Of course, technically, Satoshi Nakamoto’s fortune is hypothetical. No one knows if those bitcoins are accessible, if the private keys exist, or if they will ever be moved. But the point is that it represents something unprecedented: the greatest wealth ever created completely anonymously and without subsequent interference. It’s the kind of story that only exists in crypto.
