Oil prices rise | Samsung Display warns that soaring oil prices will increase cost pressures
Samsung Display, a subsidiary of South Korea’s Samsung Electronics, CEO Chung Yi, stated that the Iran war and soaring oil prices could increase energy and raw material costs.
Reuters quoted Chung Yi reporting that the rapid rise in oil prices is intensifying challenges faced by the tech industry, which is already dealing with rising costs for smartphones, computers, and other electronic devices due to soaring chip prices.
He also pointed out that many raw materials, such as films, are derived from crude oil. When oil prices rise, the prices of these raw materials tend to increase as well. If this becomes a reality, the cost burden is expected to significantly increase.
Samsung Display supplies display panels for Apple’s iPhone and MacBook, and also produces screens for Samsung Electronics’ smartphones.
