The strong rally of meme coins themed around cats has caused dog coins to fall behind.
The meme coin market has recently experienced a clear polarization. According to market data, the total market capitalization of the meme coin sector has surpassed $57 billion, with a 2% increase in the recent period. In this context, cat-themed meme coins are dominating, creating a new market trend compared to previous years when dog-themed coins were primarily in the spotlight.
MEW Leads the Surge of Cat-Themed Meme Coins
Cat in a Dogs World (MEW) is showing remarkable strength in the market. This meme coin has increased by 1.58% in the past 24 hours, with the current price at $0.00 and a market cap of $54.46 million. Notably, MEW recently reached a new all-time high of $0.01, indicating significant volatility for cat-themed meme coins during this market cycle.
Market analysts believe that cat coins still have high growth potential. MEW’s current surge reflects increased investor interest in the cat meme coin segment, marking a clear shift from previous years.
Other Cat Meme Coins Also Benefit from Market Trends
Alongside MEW, several other cat-themed meme coins are showing positive growth. Wen (WEN) has increased by 2.97% in 24 hours, while Catwifhat (CWIF) is up 2.11%, and Simons Cat (CAT) has risen 1.91%. Although MANEKI has slightly decreased by 0.83%, overall, cat-themed meme coins are demonstrating a generally positive trend.
Notably, Popcat (POPCAT)—the largest cat meme coin by market cap—is trading at $0.05. Despite a correction from its all-time high of $2.08, POPCAT still maintains a strong position in the current meme coin market.
Dog-Themed Coins Experience Slower Growth
While cat-themed meme coins are surging, dog-themed coins—accounting for about 70% of the total meme coin market cap—are experiencing more moderate growth. Dogecoin (DOGE) has increased by only 0.09% in 24 hours, while Shiba Inu (SHIB) is up 1.58%. Other coins like Dogwifhat (WIF) have risen 0.79%, Bonk Inu (BONK) has decreased by 0.28%, and Floki Inu (FLOKI) has increased by 2.93%.
Although some dog coins continue to show positive growth, it’s clear that market energy is increasingly focused on cat meme coins, indicating a psychological shift among investors.
Meme Coin Market: Opportunity or Risk?
The rapid volatility of the meme coin market reminds investors of potential risks. The trend from dogs to cats could continue or reverse at any time, depending on market sentiment and external factors. History shows that the enthusiasm for cat-themed meme coins can be short-lived.
Investors should exercise caution and maintain disciplined risk management, investing only what they can afford to lose. While cat-themed meme coins are currently shining, there’s no guarantee this trend will persist long-term. Balancing opportunity with caution is key to navigating this market safely.
