Odaily Planet Daily reported that, according to CNN, two individuals familiar with U.S. intelligence sources revealed that Iran has begun laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Currently, the scale of the minefield is small, with only dozens of mines deployed recently. One source stated that Iran still retains 80% to 90% of its small boats and minelayers, making it entirely possible for its forces to deploy hundreds of mines in the waterway. Additionally, a CBS reporter cited sources saying that Iran uses small boats in the Hormuz route, each capable of carrying 2 to 3 mines. Although the exact number of mines Iran possesses has not been publicly disclosed, estimates over the years suggest it ranges between 2,000 and 6,000 mines.
