The US Air Force lost three reconnaissance-strike MQ-9 Reaper drones worth approximately $30 million during an operation against Iran, CBS reports. One UAV attempted to land near the Iranian coast, while another was destroyed by friendly fire from Qatari air defense systems. The location of the third crash is unknown.
MQ-9 Reaper ( — "Reaper" — is a modular drone primarily designed for intelligence gathering. It can also be used to deliver precise strikes on important and mobile targets. Its maximum speed is over 400 km/h, and it can stay airborne for a day without recharging.
