Carlyle and Citigroup Partner to Provide Financing for Fintech Lenders
Carlyle Group has joined forces with Citigroup to offer asset-backed financing to fintech lenders, signaling a broader institutional move into the evolving credit space. The partnership will also involve the exchange of market insights and exploration of co-investment opportunities.
With digital lenders seeing growing demand from consumers seeking flexible credit options, access to stable capital has become a key priority. Asset-backed financing—secured by pools of receivables—has emerged as one of the most dynamic segments in private credit.
Carlyle’s Akhil Bansal noted that as fintech lenders mature, they increasingly require efficient and scalable funding structures. The alliance with Citi provides both financial backing and strategic collaboration to support that next phase of growth.
