On March 4th, OpenAI reasoning model core researcher Max Schwarzer announced his departure on X platform, transferring to Anthropic. It is reported that Schwarzer was one of the early participants in the o1 reasoning model, leading the post-training of o1 and o3, and over the past year, he has led the entire post-training team, delivering GPT-5, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3-Codex. Max stated that after joining Anthropic, he will focus on reinforcement learning research.
