SK Telecom gained over 340,000 new customers in January through mobile number portability, a significant increase driven by rival KT Corp.'s decision to waive early termination fees. This fee waiver was part of KT’s compensation efforts following a major data breach in September. The majority of SK Telecom’s new users, 221,000, switched from KT, while LG Uplus also saw an increase in users from KT.
