Deep Tide TechFlow News, January 14th, citing The New York Times via Jintiao Data, reports that Federal Reserve Kashkari stated that the actions taken by the Trump administration against the Federal Reserve over the past year "are actually a monetary policy issue." Previously, the Department of Justice led a criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Powell. Kashkari said in an interview, "The escalation of the situation over the past year is actually a monetary policy issue. I think the Chairman explained it very accurately." Kashkari also said that this moment is an "opportunity to explain to our voters and the American people why the independence of the Federal Reserve is so important to the health and vitality of the U.S. economy." He also mentioned, "I don't think there's a need to cut interest rates in January," but added that there might be some room for rate cuts later this year, though he said it's "still too early" to tell.
