The Bitcoin community in Mérida, Mexico, has been quite active lately. Two local Bitcoin community organizations, Acepta Bitcoin 21 and Arcadia BTC, have teamed up with a software technology institute to launch a school-enterprise partnership, aiming to introduce Bitcoin courses and hands-on projects on campus.
Speaking of Arcadia BTC, this organization has been active since 2017. What's even more noteworthy is that last August, they went public on the Mexican Stock Exchange, becoming the first local company to make Bitcoin a core part of its strategy and be publicly traded. This sets a precedent in the Latin American market.
Mérida has always been proactive in promoting Bitcoin, previously launching a project called White Paper House. Now, by expanding into the education sector, it seems they want to cultivate a new generation of Bitcoin users from the ground up. Whether this trend will catch on in schools remains to be seen.
