Why is it said that when humans go to KTV, they become useless?

When she went back to her hometown during the holiday and saw that the top student from her childhood earned less than her, she could no longer believe that studying hard could make one wealthy.
When all her sisters around her are carrying luxury bags and wearing high-end clothing, and receiving high-end beauty treatments every month, it is impossible for her to develop a habit of saving money.
But their external identity is always as cashiers/consultants/servers.
