Researcher wins 1 BTC after 15-bit elliptic curve quantum break

Independent researcher Giancarlo Lelli used a public quantum computer to derive a 15-bit elliptic curve key and won a 1 BTC bounty from Project Eleven. Project Eleven called it the largest quantum attack on elliptic curve cryptography so far, but Bitcoin wallet security still relies on 256-bit keys that are far beyond this demonstration.
