Just came across something interesting about how Vitalik Buterin actually lives when he's in Singapore. Honestly, it's pretty different from what you'd expect from someone of his status in crypto.
So the Ethereum co-founder apparently spends a lot of time around the National University of Singapore's blockchain research center. But here's the thing - in the afternoons you might find him just working away at a regular café called Plain Vanilla, grinding through Ethereum Improvement Proposals like any other developer. Not some fancy office setup, just a local spot.
What really caught my attention is where he actually stays. Vitalik Buterin rents this modest apartment in Tiong Bahru, paying somewhere in the 5,000 to 7,000 SGD range monthly. For context, that's pretty reasonable for Singapore, especially considering his net worth. The guy could live anywhere, but he chose understated.
He gets around Singapore on public transport and just walks. No entourage, no security detail following him around. It's this whole minimalist thing that seems genuine - he's not performing minimalism for the aesthetic, it just seems to be how he actually operates.
Kind of refreshing to see someone at that level in the crypto space just living pragmatically. Makes you think about priorities, you know?
