Have you ever stopped to think about what happens to your cryptocurrencies when quantum computers finally take off? Well, that’s keeping a lot of people awake at night.
Recently, Google released that Willow chip that promises to solve problems in minutes that would take billions of years for today’s supercomputers. Scary? Maybe. The point is: this technology could break the cryptography that protects Bitcoin, Ethereum, and practically everything we know in the crypto space. And while everyone is focused on profiting from the current market, there’s a smarter group thinking long-term with quantum coins.
But here’s the detail: not all is lost. Projects are being built specifically to survive this threat. They use cutting-edge cryptography, like one-time digital signatures, which work like locks that cannot be reused. It’s basically preparing your portfolio for the future.
Let’s look at the projects leading this wave of quantum security. Algorand is one that stands out. It uses a technology called Falcon for post-quantum digital signatures. Every 256 blocks, the network cryptographically signs its history. It doesn’t yet protect future transactions, but it’s already a smart move. Currently, ALGO is at $0.10, down 4.85% over the past 24 hours.
Cellframe is another name that comes up in this conversation. It’s a third-generation blockchain designed with quantum security from the start. Written in pure C, it offers performance and scalability. The CELL token is priced at $0.06, falling 4.90% in the last 24 hours, with a volume of $85K.
Hedera Hashgraph employs SHA-384, a security level that even the most powerful quantum computers will have difficulty breaking. It complies with heavy government standards and has a growing ecosystem. HBAR is at $0.09, down 2.96%, with a volume of $460K. Its market capitalization is around $3.74 billion.
Now, here’s the surprise: Bitcoin remains a solid bet despite these concerns. Of course, it will need algorithm updates, but the network is robust and adaptable. The real risk lies in dormant wallets, but active ones can transition to resistant algorithms without drama. BTC shot up to $71.41K but fell 2.67% in the last 24 hours with a volume of $232.94M.
Finally, Quantum Resistant Ledger is practically tailor-made for this battle. It uses XMSS for unparalleled security, focusing on making every aspect of the blockchain quantum-proof. QRL is at $1.03, recently up 11.73%.
The point is: quantum currency is no longer science fiction. While most still think about short-term gains, the more attentive are building positions in assets that will last when this quantum revolution arrives. If you take your portfolio’s security seriously, it’s worth taking a look at these projects. Many people are still sleeping on this trend.
