JUST IN: The creator of WireGuard, one of the world's most widely used VPN technologies, has been locked out of his Microsoft developer account, a problem that prevents him from signing drivers and distributing updates to Windows users.

The incident reignites questions about the critical dependence of security projects on centralized platforms.
Jason Donenfeld, the creator of WireGuard, said he is unable to release updates for Windows after losing access to his Microsoft developer account.
The issue affects driver signing, a key requirement for distributing sensitive software on Windows, and comes in parallel with a similar case involving VeraCrypt.
