I came across a blogger who said that coming to Chongqing completely changed their perception:

Whether it's an only child or a daughter or son, kids in Chongqing don't have to hand over their wages when they start working.
Parents not only don't ask for money, but they are also always worried that their children might not have enough to eat or might suffer grievances outside, often giving extra support instead.
Compared to some places where children have to send money home from their part-time jobs to support the family, this family mindset is very different.
As a Chongqing native, I feel that it's all about my parents' care—caring about whether I'm doing well outside, whether I have money to spend. Forget about handing over wages; they even periodically send big red envelopes, invite me to a big meal, or let me buy clothes. I don't always accept, but I also don't always refuse—after all, it's their kindness.
Curious to ask: what is the typical family situation where you are?
