A new 11-year study analyzing the resilience of #البيتكوين against internet submarine cable failures found that the network remains highly robust even when vital internet infrastructure breaks down.

Using data from 2014 to 2025 and 68 documented cable failure incidents, researchers discovered that random cable failures would require approximately 72% to 92% of cross-border connections to fail before causing significant disruptions to network nodes.

Deliberate attacks are more effective, but they still require disrupting between 5% and 20% of the main critical connections.

The study also found that using the Tor network enhances Bitcoin network resilience because the bandwidth of relay nodes is concentrated in areas with strong and reliable connectivity.

Experimental results show that 87% of historical cable failures caused less than 5% impact on network nodes...
