The Korea Fintech Industry Association announced on the 20th that it held its regular board meeting and appointed Ryu Hong-ryeol, CEO of Bides, as the new vice president.
CEO Ryu holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Southern California (USC). He previously served as a partner lawyer at the law firm Gwangjang. Later, he co-founded Bides, based in Busan, in January 2022 with CSO Kim Tak-jong, whom he met at Gwangjang.
Bides securely stores customers’ digital assets like a bank and provides transfer services. In particular, beyond traditional deposit and withdrawal operations, it has adopted a prime brokerage service (PBS) strategy to manage customer assets. PBS offers comprehensive services for corporate and institutional investors, including trade execution, funding, securities lending, asset management and income, and clearing and settlement services, supporting overall investment activities.
The Fintech Association also appointed Lee Hyo-jin, CEO of 8Percent, and Lim Kwan-woong, CEO of Joolgeoun, as new directors at the board meeting. 8Percent is a fintech company specializing in mid-interest rate loans, and Joolgeoun is a mobile coupon specialist company. The Fintech Association is a non-profit corporation authorized by the Financial Services Commission, with over 550 fintech companies as member organizations.
