Any method of making money has a shelf life. The arbitrage opportunities that work today might disappear tomorrow. Either the price difference vanishes, or a more convenient tool is discovered. By then, I might scale back or even completely change my approach.

But the experiences during this process have left me with things far more valuable than the numbers in my account. It’s more like entering a training camp, where I was forced to learn three fundamental ways of thinking that can be applied not only in the crypto world but also across the entire investment field.

**First realization: Risk has a price**

In the past, I heard others say "high risk, high reward," but it was just talk, and I didn’t truly understand. Only through practical experience did I realize—

Want to leverage for bigger returns? Sure, but the cost is clear: higher liquidation risk, constant tension on health factors. The system won’t bother with words; it directly shows you the cost of doing so with data.

Want to avoid forced liquidation during a sharp decline? That’s possible too. But you’ll either absorb the slippage losses or need to add margin, with opportunity costs right in front of you.

In this mechanism, every decision aimed at improving efficiency corresponds to a clear risk ledger. Over time, it develops into a conditioned reflex—before operating, ask yourself: what is the risk cost of this ledger? Can the potential gains cover it? This way of thinking is truly priceless.

**Second realization: Complex systems require patience**

DeFi protocols are complex monsters, a blend of code, economic incentives, and human nature—completely different from the simple operations of a bank app. Here, you’ll face various challenges—network congestion, slippage, interest rate fluctuations, and even contract risks.

The key is to learn to coexist with this complexity, rather than trying to escape at every problem. True experts are those who can see the risks clearly without being scared away.

The shelf life of arbitrage opportunities is a well-discussed topic, but what truly matters is the mindset—remaining calm and composed is the key to long-term survival. --- Clearing risks, slippage, margin... sounds annoying, but the risk awareness developed through these experiences is truly priceless. --- DeFi is a complex game; don’t think of it as a one-shot deal. You need to learn to play psychological warfare with the system. --- The difference between experts and rookies lies here: one recognizes the risks and dares to bet, while the other is so scared they won’t even try. --- The term "shelf life" is used brilliantly; the real danger is clinging to outdated strategies. Changing your mindset in time is the way to survive. --- That tense feeling of health factors can really help people grow quickly, more effective than reading a hundred tutorials. --- DeFi is a real battlefield; every operation is a struggle between the system and your greed. --- The understanding that risk has a price should be a mandatory lesson for all traders; otherwise, you’ll suffer big losses sooner or later. --- Rather than saying making money, it’s more like being forcibly educated in investment philosophy by the complexity of DeFi.

Arbitrage opportunities disappear so quickly, but what truly matters is that risk pricing mindset—that's the long-term breadwinner. --- Leverage, this thing, the bills are as clear as they can be; when it's time to run, the health factor just nudges you. --- After messing around with DeFi for a while, I realize that the risk costs and returns must always be aligned; otherwise, you'll either get liquidated or suffer from slippage. --- Complex systems test patience; those who want to escape at the first sign of trouble will never make big money. --- From arbitrageurs to understanding risk pricing, this is how a training camp should be conducted. --- Contract risk, slippage, health factors—these all eventually turn into conditioned reflexes. Without mastering them, you can't play the game. --- I just pass on trades where the returns can't cover the risk costs; I just can't change this habit now. --- Living with complex systems rather than escaping from them—easy to say, but really hard to do.

Call it "tuition" in a nice way, or simply a lesson taught by the system in a harsh way. No matter how clearly the risk price table is written, those who are going to be liquidated still get liquidated—that's the charm of DeFi. --- Complex systems require patience? I think what’s really needed is enough mental resilience. Code, incentives, and human nature—mix them together, and when it crashes, it all crashes together. Who can endure that? --- The disappearance of the spread is only a matter of time, but how many retail investors can be cut before it disappears is the real skill. Don’t tell me about priceless experience; I just want to know where the liquidation line is right now. --- "Underlying thinking" sounds good, but I think of all those DAO governance proposals... the same logic, the same room for optimization, and in the end, it’s just a consumption war over rights and interests. --- A true expert isn’t someone who "sees the risks clearly and isn’t scared away," but someone who has never been liquidated. Or someone who has been liquidated but is still alive to tell the story. --- No matter how transparent the mechanism is, it can’t hide human greed. No matter how clear the risk bill is written, the next pump wave will still be a all-in shot.
