Decentralized stablecoins: a resilience to question

Vitalik Buterin questions the solidity of current stablecoins. His diagnosis? These protocols remain too dependent on the US dollar and are still vulnerable to financial market manipulations.

What is the real issue: building genuine stability or simply reproducing the fragility of the traditional financial system?

To be honest, current stablecoins are just a different flavor of the same thing; the dependence on the US dollar can't be changed.

Vitalik is right. Today's stablecoins are just a dressed-up version of the dollar and haven't really solved the problem.

Vitalik is starting to be pessimistic again, but on the other hand... the dependence on the US dollar is indeed an unavoidable hurdle.

Vitalik is starting to talk down again, but the truth is that stablecoins are inherently a paradox... Want decentralization but also stability, how is that possible?

Is Vitalik again criticizing stablecoins? It's a common topic... but he does have a point; the USD peg is indeed a vulnerability.
