Why does Vitalik's walkaway test sound so unfamiliar? I really haven't come across this term before. It seems like this concept was only recently proposed, maybe just in the past couple of days.

I don't think it was just released recently. That guy Vitalik has always been quite forward-thinking, it might just be that it hasn't been widely spread yet.
