A major player moves massive amounts of ETH on THORChain
On the blockchain analyst’s radar, once again, a large-volume swap has appeared: a whale or institutional actor has exchanged a significant amount of Bitcoin for Ethereum through the THORChain network. According to on-chain data analyst Yu Jin, 317 BTC were converted into 9,105 ETH — equivalent to approximately $28.15 million.
The situation becomes particularly interesting when looking at the long-term activity pattern of this actor. Since November 25, they have been continuously performing such swaps. The current tally: a total of 2,289 BTC exchanged for 67,253 ETH (roughly $204 million). This indicates that the actor is steadily increasing their Ethereum position.
What stands out is the average exchange rate. The actor paid an average of $3,036 per ETH — a figure that suggests a deliberately thought-out reallocation strategy. THORChain adds an extra layer of interest here, as the decentralized exchange enables these large movements without interference from traditional exchanges.
Such large transactions from institutional addresses or wealthy investors are always closely watched by the community. They could provide clues about strategic repositioning in the market — whether it’s a hedge, a targeted reallocation, or a change in market outlook, remains ultimately speculative. The fact is: with over $200 million in volume, this is not an everyday move.
