Cryptocurrency prediction markets have really been looking for a breakthrough in the past two years. Polymarket just announced a major event — becoming the exclusive prediction market partner for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.
In simple terms, starting from January 11th (California time) / January 12th at 9:00 AM (Taiwan time), users can predict the winners of various categories at the Golden Globe Awards on Polymarket. This is on the eve of the CBS broadcasted awards ceremony, using on-chain predictions to gather the collective judgment of participants worldwide on the results. Polymarket stated in a release: “We are honored to be the exclusive prediction market partner for the Golden Globe Awards and look forward to witnessing this annual event together.”
Interestingly, the prediction for the “Golden Globe: Best Original Song in a Motion Picture” category on the platform is already quite lively. Data shows that over 80% of prediction users have bet on the song “Golden” by KPOP girl group LE SSERAFIM. This real-time, incentive-based collective prediction indeed reflects the market’s genuine view of the outcome — more transparent and harder to manipulate than traditional polls.
Prediction markets are gradually penetrating mainstream cultural events, and this time it’s an awards ceremony at the Oscar level. What will be the next step?
