Recently spent time researching the Walrus protocol project, and I think it has a pretty clear understanding of the decentralized storage track — mainly building low-cost, highly available storage infrastructure for AI and Web3 applications.
From a technical perspective, it is built on the Sui blockchain, using erasure coding and sharding storage solutions to handle data, which not only ensures data availability but also significantly reduces costs. The application scenarios are also quite comprehensive — on-chain assets like NFT content, game assets that need storage, plus AI training datasets, all can be managed with programmable data logic via smart contracts.
Recently, WAL tokens were listed on major exchanges, which means more developers and ordinary users can experience the capabilities of decentralized storage with lower barriers. The key question is, in the context of the booming AI wave, how large can the ecosystem built around storage protocols like Walrus grow? This is a pretty worthwhile question to ponder.
