## Woodside's Beaumont Ammonia Venture Reaches Production Milestone, Paving Way for 2026 Market Entry
Woodside Energy has announced a significant breakthrough at its Beaumont New Ammonia (BNA) facility located in southeast Texas, where initial ammonia production has been achieved following comprehensive systems validation. This accomplishment represents the first operational phase at the site, setting the stage for the facility's formal handover from OCI Global and the launch of commercial-scale operations in early 2026.
The facility is engineered to produce both conventional and lower-carbon ammonia variants, with standard production commencing upon completion of the transition period and low-emission ammonia ramping up in the latter half of 2026. The ammonia formula and production methodology employed at BNA are designed to minimize carbon intensity while maintaining industrial efficiency, aligning with global sustainability initiatives and corporate decarbonization commitments.
Market conditions are increasingly favorable for this venture. The global appetite for lower-carbon ammonia continues to strengthen, driven by regions including Europe and Asia where energy independence and emissions reduction rank as top priorities. Industrial buyers and energy companies across these markets have demonstrated robust purchasing interest, recognizing the strategic value of lower-carbon solutions in their transition strategies.
Woodside has already secured supply agreements with major international customers for conventional ammonia production, with shipments scheduled to commence in 2026 and continue through the end of the year at prices reflecting current market conditions. Beyond these confirmed contracts, the company is negotiating additional supply arrangements to fully absorb expected output, particularly emphasizing lower-carbon ammonia variants that command growing market attention.
This development underscores the expanding role of cleaner ammonia production in global energy and chemical markets, positioning Woodside to capture significant demand from customers balancing environmental responsibility with operational needs.
