FORMER PUMP FUN DEVELOPER SENTENCED TO 6 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SOLANA FRAUD
🔸 Jarett Dunn, a former developer at Pump fun, was sentenced to 6 years in prison by a court in the UK for fraud and illegal asset transfer.
🔸 Dunn withdrew approximately $2 million worth of Solana from Pump fun. He pleaded guilty and received two 6-year sentences.
🔸 Dunn did not keep the stolen funds for himself. Instead, he sent the money to thousands of random wallets and immediately publicly admitted to his actions on social media. Within minutes, Dunn posted dramatic messages and even participated in live discussions, attempting to portray this act as a statement against Pump fun rather than personal theft. This unusual behavior led some in the crypto community to see him as a rebellious figure, a “crypto Robin Hood.”
🔸 Dunn stated that he acted because he believed Pump fun was harmful and wanted to “expose” or “destroy” the platform, while trying to frame his actions as internal whistleblowing rather than theft.
🔸 He also admitted on social media that he was mentally unstable at the time, had stopped taking medication for several months, and acted impulsively.
🔸 Dunn was able to access these funds because he was a senior developer at Pump fun with internal access to the platform’s systems.
🔸 The court dismissed these defenses and concluded that regardless of the motive, abusing his position as a developer to move company funds still constituted fraud.
