Is Bitcoin facing short-term pressure? A system analysis from AI power competition to quantum threats

Abstract generation in progress

【BlockBeats】A well-known macroeconomic analyst recently changed his stance on a podcast. Having previously accumulated Bitcoin at prices below $30,000 at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, and holding firmly until now, he is now turning bearish on Bitcoin’s short-term performance.

Why the sudden shift? There are three main reasons:

The first concern relates to the correlation with tech stocks. Bitcoin’s price movement still closely tracks tech stocks, but there is a key change— the true bottleneck in AI competition is no longer semiconductors, but electricity. This means both Bitcoin and the overall upside potential of tech stocks are now constrained.

The second reason is the deterioration of the liquidity environment. When compared to gold, Bitcoin has not experienced a breakout trend. The future liquidity environment essentially has two options: either massive money printing or continued tightening. Under these expectations, Bitcoin’s attractiveness has significantly declined.

The third threat comes from quantum computing. Although it sounds distant, this risk window is estimated to be within 2 to 9 years.

It is worth noting that he specifically mentioned Tether’s recent movements. This stablecoin giant has recently invested in AI and gold, and on its balance sheet, its gold holdings have already surpassed its Bitcoin holdings. These details are signals—institutions and large funds are rethinking asset allocation.

I never expected the power supply to be a bottleneck... Is BTC also going to face electricity shortages? --- Here comes the quantum threat again. This has been said for years, and it feels like the pitfalls of Bitcoin are more than those of market makers. --- From building a position at 30,000 to still being bearish in the short term? Is this guy really investing or just conducting a psychological test? --- There are only two paths for liquidity to choose from; this logic seems a bit absolute. Historically, there have been many ways to break the deadlock. --- AI power crisis → BTC ceiling, this combination really hurts a bit. --- Wait a minute, tech stocks have reached their ceiling, so why is he still bearish on BTC? Does he have other intentions? --- If quantum computing really arrives, will all the coins we hold drop to zero? Just thinking about it gives me the chills. --- After so many years of hype, suddenly turning around, is this a real change of heart or just a new trick? --- Gold can't break through, so why can BTC? It seems that digital gold is just like that. --- With electricity becoming a bottleneck, miners must be crying, but what is the impact on ordinary holders?

I really didn't think about the angle of the power supply being constrained... It seems that the AI arms race is consuming not only chip production capacity but also tightening the power grid, and BTC is trapped along with tech stocks. To be honest, the quantum part is a bit concerning... But is it really that urgent in the short term? It feels a bit overly worried, haha.

I never really thought about the power grid bottleneck from this perspective... But this guy held from 30,000 all the way until now and suddenly turned bearish. This shift is a bit steep.

Shorts are changing their tune so quickly? Saying that power shortages are a bit interesting, but this guy was still hyping at the end of 2023. --- The quantum threat argument is back again, making it sound like encryption will be broken tomorrow. --- Liquidity only has two paths? Feels like they're forcing the narrative—are things really so binary, black or white? --- Just be bearish if you’re bearish, why bother with so many reasons to justify it? Wouldn't it be better to just say you're afraid? --- Is the ceiling of tech stocks the same as the ceiling of Bitcoin? This logic is so forced... --- Both power and quantum, why not talk about solar storms instead? --- From steadfast holding to turning bearish, this move is just like harvesting chives—scalping the little guys. --- Semiconductor bottlenecks turn into power bottlenecks, and then Bitcoin has to kneel? That explanation is a bit far-fetched.

Changed your tune again? This guy has held from $30,000 until now, now switching to short? Where's the promised faith haha The power bottleneck logic is quite heartbreaking, really didn't expect the AI arms race to get stuck on electricity costs in the end I really didn't understand the liquidity part, whether to print money or tighten, isn't it still up to the Fed's mood? Quantum computing threat? Old news, if it really comes, who knows what will happen in a few years There is short-term pressure, but don't scare the retail investors here, isn't this always how they are pessimistic?

The power bottleneck has been hit... Ultimately, the AI chip war is about competing for electricity. Bitcoin miners are also competing for power. If you think about it this way, the ceiling is indeed right there.
