Hyperliquid on-chain portfolio margin system launched, unified accounts achieve higher capital efficiency

Abstract generation in progress

【BitPush】Hyperliquid officially announces the launch of an on-chain portfolio margin system, with the testnet already in pre-alpha stage. The core concept of this mechanism is to unify spot trading and perpetual contract accounts, allowing users to leverage larger positions with less capital. Idle lendable assets will automatically accrue interest, initially supporting USDC borrowing with HYPE as the sole collateral. Support for assets like USDH and BTC will be gradually introduced later. Users can utilize this to perform cross-account arbitrage, hedge short positions with long positions, and significantly reduce liquidation risks. Interestingly, this system is also closely integrated with the lending protocols within the HyperEVM ecosystem, opening new possibilities for capital flow and risk management.

HYPE-4,86%
USDC0,02%
BTC-2,88%

You're about to set another trap for us, portfolio margin sounds like just another fancy way of saying "more elegant liquidation"...

This combination margin looks like it can reduce the risk of liquidation, but after it goes live, will it turn into a scythe harvesting machine for retail investors? I'm a bit worried.

Now capital efficiency is about to take off, and finally there's no need to operate separately. The real arbitrage opportunity is here. Just worried it might end up like a testnet explosion again. Connecting lending to the ecosystem? Feels like the risk is increasing too. Why do we still have to wait for HYPE to be collateral? Isn't that just cutting the leeks? How much cheaper could the fees be once it actually runs? Another pie in the sky? I'll choose to wait and see. Long hedge against short, why does this logic feel a bit off? Reduced liquidation risk... does that mean liquidations will become more frequent?

Wow, this is true leverage freedom. I finally don't have to keep toggling between two accounts.

The operation of the unified account is quite something, but it seems the higher the leverage, the greater the risk.
