It’s worth noting that Hassabis, although his name doesn’t appear Chinese, has a mother of Singaporean Chinese background. In comparison, there are no Indian-origin individuals on this list.

Those who make it to TIME’s Person of the Year are usually key figures who define direction and drive the industry amid the AI wave.
