Recently, I've seen a lot of people learning or planning to learn English, searching for various methods. But in fact, it all comes down to the four skills our teachers taught us: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Most people struggle with listening and want to take shortcuts. With this kind of skill, if you pretend you've worked hard, it will trick you into thinking you've mastered it. Many people get obsessed with the learning process itself, but don't look for real-life scenarios to apply it. No matter how much you learn, if you can't use it, you're only fooling yourself. There was a period when my English listening and speaking skills declined a lot, but once I collaborated with people from StepnGo and had to hold meetings in English, even though the first time was awkward, things clearly improved after a few more tries. But if you only practice listening without real situations to use it, there's no way to truly improve.
