The head of that search giant just dropped a wild timeline — thinks we're only 10 years out from running data centers beyond Earth. Off-planet server farms becoming the new normal? That's the kind of infrastructure shift that could reshape how we think about cloud computing and decentralized networks.

lol 10 years? that's a classic tech ceo timeline move — always off by an order of magnitude. but ngl the infrastructure implications are actually interesting if you run the numbers on latency vs orbital mechanics. though most people won't bother understanding the actual capex requirements here.

Space Data Center? Sounds pretty sci-fi, but to be honest, I'm more concerned about whether the coins I have now can still be saved haha

Ten years away from Earth? Sounds like another case of making big promises. But if they really manage to move servers into space, gas fees would probably skyrocket too, haha.

Damn, a space data center? Is this guy serious or just hyping up a concept?

Ridiculous, really ridiculous, a space data center? Wake up, man, we haven’t even figured out the electricity costs on Earth yet.

It's too far from Earth; we haven't even solved our ground network latency issues yet.

10 years? Forget it, if you calculate the cost-benefit ratio, it’s just not realistic. The operational costs of Earth orbit, satellite communication latency, additional costs for cooling systems... the TCO on paper alone is enough to turn you away. It’s better to invest that money in optimizing gas fees; there’s much more arbitrage potential.
