A certain cloud platform account can be banned at any time, and the most frustrating part isn’t the ban itself—it’s that your data instantly becomes a bargaining chip in their hands, without even giving you a chance to export it.
This incident was a real wake-up call for me: what is true data security? At the very least, you need to follow the “3-2-1 backup rule”—prepare at least 3 copies, distributed across 2 different storage methods or platforms, and 1 of them must be stored offsite in a physically isolated location or another cloud.
I used to only keep some redundant backups on a single platform. Looking back now, that was really naive. Relying on a single point—whether it’s a centralized exchange or a cloud service provider—the lesson is always the same.
