CZ on Hardware Wallet Security Red Line: The Private Key Must Never Leave the Device
[Crypto World] Saw an interesting discussion on December 7th.
When CZ was asked about the need for hardware wallets, his answer was very straightforward: private keys must never leave the device, under any circumstances. That’s a pretty hardcore standard—after all, in his view, security always comes first.
What’s even more thought-provoking is what he said next. Some people questioned him, saying he’s “not an expert,” but he explained quite honestly: experts are good at optimizing existing solutions and will tell you what can’t be done and where the pitfalls are. But radical innovation? That’s often not the work of experts.
It sounds like he’s legitimizing “unconventional approaches.” But if you think about it, that makes sense—the blockchain industry was pioneered by a bunch of “non-experts” in the first place. Sometimes, not knowing what’s impossible actually leads to new breakthroughs.
