CFTC approves spot cryptocurrency trading on futures exchanges, strengthening digital asset regulatory framework
On December 5, according to Bloomberg, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced on Thursday that it will, for the first time, allow spot cryptocurrency products to be traded on registered futures exchanges.
CFTC Acting Chair Caroline Pham said in a statement: "Now, for the first time, spot cryptocurrencies can be traded on CFTC-registered exchanges, which have upheld the gold standard for nearly a century, providing Americans with the customer protections and market integrity they deserve."
