Kevin O'Leary: Low Probability of Fed Rate Cut in December; Unchanged Rates Won't Impact BTC Price
Recently, well-known investor Kevin O'Leary (also known as "Mr. Wonderful") stated in a media interview that the Federal Reserve is unlikely to cut rates at its December meeting, and he believes this expectation will not significantly impact the price of Bitcoin.
O'Leary refuted widespread market speculation about a December rate cut during the interview. He pointed out that inflationary pressures in the US remain, with the annualized inflation rate rising to 3% in September, and new tariff policies increasing input costs. These factors challenge the Fed's dual mandate of "maximum employment" and "stable prices." As a result, his own investment strategy is not built around expectations of a rate cut.
However, O'Leary believes that even if the Fed holds rates steady, it will not negatively impact Bitcoin. He explained that Bitcoin has currently found solid "support" at its present price level.
He expects that in the absence of major catalysts, Bitcoin's price is more likely to fluctuate within a relatively narrow range (such as up or down 5%) rather than experiencing a significant upward or downward trend.
This view stands in stark contrast to the common market belief that rate cuts would drive high-risk assets higher.
Notably, O'Leary's personal opinion differs significantly from current mainstream market expectations. According to the CME FedWatch Tool, market participants put the probability of a Fed rate cut in December as high as 89.2%.
This expectation, coupled with dovish comments from New York Fed President John Williams and others, has contributed to significant recent market volatility.
In summary, O'Leary's comments inject a note of caution into the market's overheated expectations for rate cuts and emphasize that Bitcoin's price movements may be gradually decoupling from short-term interest rate policies and instead are being supported by its own market structure.
Finally, if the Fed really doesn't cut rates in December, will you adjust your investment strategy? Will you continue to hold mainstream assets like BTC, or will you shift to other areas? Share your thoughts in the comments!
